Man Gets Life In Prison For Running Sex Ring

Brandon Thompson, December 2009
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The man accused of running a sex ring based in Tea has been sentenced to life in prison.
A federal judge sentenced Brandon Thompson for leading an online prostitution ring involving at least 10 underage girls dating back to 2009. As part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, Thompson pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a child and one count of attempting to hire someone to murder a witness. Under the agreement, he would have only had to spend up to 30 years in prison.
But the judge disregarded the agreement and sentenced him to life.
KELOLAND's Nicole Winters was in the courtroom for the sentencing; she'll have more on what the judge had to say about the case later today on KELOLAND News.
