Man Faces Weapons Charges After Early Morning Incident

Sioux Falls Police responded to a weapons violation early Wednesday morning in western Sioux Falls.

At about 3:40 a.m., people delivering newspapers pulled their vehicle into a driveway along the 6100 block of W. Oscar Howe Circle and said they were confronted by a man with a handgun.

According to police, 72-year-old Allan Dean Hansen said he was investigating why the vehicle was parked in the driveway, citing recent criminal activity and street racing as causes for alarm.

Police report Hansen was carrying a .357 revolver at the time and pointed the gun at individuals in the vehicle. Hansen is charged with aggravated assault.
