A man accused of murdering 56-year-old Kari Kirkegaard made his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
A judge set bond at $1 million cash for 40-year-old Christopher Kryger. He's facing murder, rape and burglary charges in the death of the Sioux Falls woman.
Extra security was needed in the courtroom Monday and at one point an officer had to remove Kirkegaard's brother from the courtroom.
Kryger also kept trying to talk during his first appearance, but his attorney and the judge wouldn't let him.
