Maltaverne Is New Rapid City Fire Chief

RAPID CITY, SD -
Rapid City has a new fire chief. The City Council this week confirmed the appointment of Mike Maltaverne, who takes the place of former chief Mark Rohlfing. Rohlfing took a job as the fire chief of the Milwaukee Fire Department.
Maltaverne says his vision is to have an even more proactive department that not only reacts to emergencies, but also anticipates risks and problems within the city.
Maltaverne has worked for the department for 20 years, most recently as assistant chief.
