June 10, 2014, 11:39 AM by Brandon Van Westen

Madison Man Dead After Vehicle Crash
MADISON, SD -

A Madison man is dead after avoiding a deer and rolling his vehicle in the ditch.

Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to a one-vehicle crash on 230th Street, north of Madison. A 1995 Nissan Maxima driven by 23-year-old Julian Freitag was traveling west when a deer in the road caused Freitag to swerve.

The vehicle rolled in the ditch several times. Freitag was ejected from the vehicle and died from injuries sustained during the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Speed was not a factor in the crash.
