Madison Administrators Say They Need HS Gym
September 25, 2011, 12:00 PM
MADISON, SD -
School administrators in the Madison Central School District say they need a larger high school gym.
High School Principal Sharon Knowlton says that the proposed new gym space is as vital to the school as
space for the music programs, updated science labs and renovation to the school's auditorium.
A proposed $14.5 million renovation would convert the existing gym into larger rooms for choir and band. A new, larger gym would be built on the north side of the school.
Knowlton says a new gym needs to be a part of the project, as sharing the middle school gym would reduce physical education time overall.
