It may be bitterly cold outside, but that's not stopping work on the new Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. In fact, things are really heating up. On Wednesday, luxury suits went on sale.
There are going to be a total of 22 suites located on the premium level of the events center, ranging in price from $35,000 to $45,000 a year.
"These suites are going to be unlike anything Sioux Falls has ever had," Community Development director Darrin Smith said.
The suites are going to be 450 square feet. Each one includes 12 tickets to all events, a bar, large flat screen tv, refrigerator, access to a lounge, VIP parking and an elevator to the premium level.
"We do expect very strong demand for these suites and they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis," Smith said.
Two of the luxury suites are already spoken for. The company that designed them and are in charge of selling them says organizations that buy these suites will have many options.
"You will have the ability to have your own art, put up a business logo, tastefully decorate your own suite. Of course SMG will have the final approval on how you decorate," Ryan Querry with Legends Sales & Marketing said.
The city says the sale of the luxury suites is going to help fulfill a promise the city made to taxpayers.
"Like we told the voters of Sioux Falls, if they pass this, our goal was to operate this facility in the black and selling premier seating such as these suites is critical," Mayor Mike Huether said.
As part of the naming rights, the two suites that were already sold go to Sanford and First Premier. The remaining suites are available to companies for five, seven and ten year terms.
The new events center is scheduled to open in the fall of next year.
