Longer Days

February 16, 2014, 5:42 PM by Grant Smith

Longer Days

Perhaps you've noticed the sun rising earlier in the morning and setting later in the day. We are in the time of year when every day is getting longer and that extra sunshine will help melt the fresh snow and help warm up temperatures.

Right now, we are adding about two minutes and 45 seconds of sunshine to the day. By the end of the month, we'll be adding almost three extra minutes to the day. This means in the next two weeks, we'll add a little over 40 minutes of sunshine to the day. That extra sun will help bring up temperatures.

The average high for February is around 30 degrees across KELOLAND and we'll be getting a taste of those normals next week. As long as the sun can help melt our recent snow and bring us back to the average.
