Locks Of Love

For Cindy Boese and her daughters, a trip to a hair salon means a lot more than a new style. For 12 year old Molly and 6 year old Olivia it's a new experience. Scissors have never touched their hair. "In the morning I was a little bit nervous thinking about it," says Cindy. But, all you have to do is look at her youngest daughter's toothless smile to see the excitement. After a couple of photos, it's on to the cuts. With each snip the excitement grows. That's because Olivia knows she's not the only one getting a new do. Olivia, Molly and their mom are donating their hair to Locks of Love. The family's braids will become wigs for children who are losing their hair. "We're just so excited to be donating it to locks of love and it'll grow back. God didn't let us grow tall but he let us grow hair," says Cindy. Cindy's been growing out her hair even longer than her daughters. She started in the early 80's. And in just a couple of seconds, two decades worth of hair is ready to donate. The smiles could last for days, but the new styles will take a little getting used to. Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that gives hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from longterm medical hair loss.
