LITTLE ROCK, IA - People in eastern Lyon County, Iowa are surveying the damage this morning from an overnight tornado.
Witnesses say three tornadoes merged into one near Little Rock, Iowa, causing widespread damage to farm acreages, hog barns, and homes.
Little Rock Fire Chief Arden Kopischke says it could be up to three days before electricity is completely restored to the area because the tornado toppled between 50-60 power poles.
Kopischke says the tornado also caused several gas leaks at nearby hog farms, including an 18,000 gallon propane tank leak that forced authorities to shut down Highway Nine. The leak was later sealed and the highway has reopened to traffic. But several other roads in the area remain closed.
The Red Cross is in Little Rock providing assistance to tornado victims.
So far, there are no reports of injuries.
