Link Snacks, Inc. Donates To Wastewater Facility, Fire Dept.

A beef jerky maker is growing its operation in South Dakota. 

Link Snacks makes Jack Link's Beef Jerky in Alpena.  It's putting $7.1 million into the expansion of Alpena's wastewater treatment facility.  

Link Snacks, which employs 800 peoples, says once completed, it will be able to create 75 new full-time jobs by 2017.

The project has created 57 construction jobs.

The state is giving the town $515,000 Community Development Block Grant for improvements to the wastewater facility. Alpena is also getting a federal low-interest loan for $1.5 million. The total project runs more than $9 million. 

Link Snacks is also donating $70,000 to Alpena volunteer fire department to go toward emergency medical support equipment and training.
