LifeLight Shines In KELOLAND

August 31, 2014, 10:41 AM by Dan Santella

LifeLight Shines In KELOLAND

Today in KELOLAND, hundreds of thousands are expected to worship and rejoice in one of the largest outdoor Christian music festivals in the country.

Music festival visitors bring a welcoming atmosphere with them to the LifeLight Festival grounds in Worthing Saturday. Volunteer Hali Mackedanz attends the Christian music festival for the first time, but could already see its appeal.

"I think it's just 'cause there's a huge variety of music, and it's just a fun environment to be in," Mackedanz said.

Jonathan Halstead drove all the way from Omaha to see the festival. He's been coming for at least five years.

"Everything, just the atmosphere, like, everybody just wants to come up and talk, and you just want to talk to them and everything, and (It's a) safe place to come hang out and have fun, and just be your own person," Halstead said.

As evidenced by the gentleman who gave a KELOLAND reporter a hug for world peace, the good vibes and positivity that mark any good music festival are apparent upon stepping on the Lifelight festival grounds. What's also clear after talking with people is that many didn't come here to discover something, but rather to affirm what they already know.

"It kinda goes back to what it talks about in Genesis 1, where the Lord made everything and it was good. The Lord made matter, and it was good. And so we have all these things that we may try to demonize, just through whatever culture may say, and we really have to think about, you know, God made matter; God is good. God made skateboarding; skateboarding is good. God made music to worship him, it's good," Dylan Harreld said.

And being this "good" is exactly what draws more than 100,000 people during the three day event. Yet, organizers expect this crowd could be the largest ever in LifeLight's 17-year history.
