Lennox Burglar Suspect Charged With Assault

December 27, 2011, 4:54 PM by Ben Dunsmoor

Lennox Burglar Suspect Charged With Assault
John Graham

CANTON, SD - We're learning more about a break-in at a Lennox bank, and the chase that led authorities all the way to Sioux Falls.

Twenty-five-year-old John Graham made his first court appearance Tuesday after he was arrested Friday.  The pursuit ended on West 12th Street after a trooper spun out the vehicle Graham was driving.

Graham faces several charges, including burglary, for breaking into the Valley Exchange Bank in Lennox Friday morning.

Even though Graham was found in the bank he didn't get away with any money.

"There was no money taken from the bank, I can assure the public of that.  But as to whether or not he actually removed anything from the bank, it's still an ongoing investigation," Lincoln County State's Attorney Tom Wollman said.

But that's just the beginning of the charges Graham faces.  He's also charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer because when Lennox Police Chief Russ Nelson responded to the break-in, Graham fired several shots and even pointed the gun at the chief.

"When Chief Nelson responded to that scene, there are some allegations concerning the use of the firearm," Wollman said.

Graham is also charged with grand theft for stealing a pick-up truck from Lennox that he used to elude authorities for more than 20 miles before the Highway Patrol spun out the vehicle in Sioux Falls to end the chase.

Graham is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Twenty-seven-year-old Robyn Adolph is also charged with aiding and abetting Graham with the burglary. She was also in court Tuesday and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
