Tornado sirens sounded all over Sioux Falls, then a hail storm hits downtown as ping pong and quarter size hail pummels vehicle after vehicle. Heavy rain also caused widespread street flooding.
It didn't last for very long, but the heavy rain and hail caused some intense moments for people who were shopping and working in the downtown area. Several trees lost leaves and branches as the storm passed through.
Downtown Sioux Falls also took a beating during a down pour of rain and hail this afternoon.
Well people who work downtown are now coming out to assess the damage to their cars and property after the storm came right through the state's largest city. The hail came down so hard that we could hear it in the KELOLAND basement during the tornado warning.
Let’s look at some of the video that was sent into the newsroom. Heavy rains and large hail caused localized street flooding. But it wasn't just here in downtown Sioux Falls. I took reports from people who say that many roads were impassible because of flooding, especially on the west and the south sides of town.
Right now we aren't hearing about any serious damage. But of course not much time as passed since the storm came through.
