Lakeview Students Back In Class
February 21, 2008, 11:06 AM
Students in the Lakeview school district are back in class today, two days after a deadly school bus accident. Counselors will be at the school today to help students deal with the tragedy.
That accident just south of Cottonwood, Minnesota killed four students, two of them Jesse Javens and Hunter Javens, were brothers. Fourteen others were hurt in the crash, nine remain hospitalized.
Hospital officials say patients are improving.
Some reports say 23-year-old Alianiss Morales, the driver of the van that hit the bus, did not have a driver’s license. Officials have not confirmed those reports. Morales was injured in the crash and is listed in stable condition.
The driver of the bus in the Cottonwood crash is asking the public to pray for the children who were hurt and lost their lives in Tuesday's crash.
The family of Dennis Deveraux says the 52 year old was not hurt in the crash, but would like everyone to focus on the families of the students who killed or hurt in the accident.
The Deveraux's released this statement, "We would like everyone to keep the children and their families in their thoughts and prayers."
The family of the bus driver adds that the community has really pulled together in this tragic time.
We’ll have more on this story later today on KELOLAND.com and News.
