Employers are required to hang up certain posters displaying labor laws.
Now con-artists are using scare tactics by telling businesses they will be fined if they don't buy posters from them.
The solicitations look official, as if they're coming from the government. But all the posters regarding labor laws are free to business from the Department of Labor.
The South Dakota Attorney General says some businesses in the state have been targeted. Victims of poster scams should contact the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division at 1-800-300-1986.
You can get a Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) poster from your local labor office or download it from the Department of Labor.
There are also two state posting requirements available for download at South Dakota Department of Labor website.
