Kirby Science Discovery Center Closed Until Monday

February 27, 2014, 1:58 PM

Mites were discovered at the Kirby Science Discovery Center on the box turtles, Tie Dye and Discovery.

The turtles were taken to a vet and were diagnosed with mites.

Because of this, the Science Center and Raven Children’s Studio will undergo professional fumigation to the areas visited by the turtles, and will be closed from Thursday, February 27 through Monday, March 3.

Staff is notifying those patrons who may have come in contact with the turtles. If your skin is itchy or has small red bumps, you should visit your family physician.

The CineDome and Visual Arts Center will remain open during this time.

Those with questions or would like the most up to date information should call 605-367-6000.
