Kids Celebrate The Planet Ahead Of Earth Day

April 19, 2014, 5:36 PM by Hannah Olsen

Kids Celebrate The Planet Ahead Of Earth Day

Party for the Planet at the Great Plains Zoo offered fun activities for kids and parents to take part in on Saturday.

From crafts like making bird feeders and planting seeds to meeting a variety of different animals, kids learn the importance of taking care of the planet and the creatures that live in it.

"It's really important for kids to get out, hands on at a place like a zoo. And of course today, it's really fun because they get to meet small animals up close.  They get to see our thousand animals now here at the zoo and do all sorts of fun crafts and games," Great Plains Zoo President & CEO Elizabeth Whealy said.

The annual event takes place ahead of Earth Day next week, which is on Tuesday.
