Kids Build Construction Interests With LEGOs, String

Kids Build Construction Interests With LEGOs, String

Nearly 60 Sioux Falls area students put their skills to the test in the 20th Annual Kids Block Event held at the Old Courthouse Museum Saturday.

The children used LEGO blocks, string, rubber bands and tin foil to build structures related to the construction field. The National Association of Women in Construction held the event to encourage students with a passion for building and engineering.

"I think often times, they have not been exposed to anything construction-related or thought about it. It's something that is all around us and we kind of take it for granted. It's a fun way to show them, here it is, here is some of the things you can do," NAWIC member Gaila Schreurs said.

The children competed for local and national titles at the event.
