Kids At YMCA Camp Bused To Safety

June 5, 2014, 3:29 PM by Brady Mallory

Kids At YMCA Camp Bused To Safety
Hail from USF Campus

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Children at a YMCA day camp were bused away to safety before the storm hit.

Director of Program Services Adam Reppe says the kids in the Leif Ericson Day Camp were taken to Brandon Valley High School at about 2:30 pm.

The camp director was on the phone with the National Weather Service before the storm hit.  Knowing severe weather was on its way, Reppe says the NWS said Brandon was a safe area to send the kids.  He also says all of the children are safe.

YMCA CEO Cal Hanson says the children are on buses back to Sioux Falls, and they will still make the normal drop-off times.  Hanson adds they may be a bit late, but they will be there.  Stay tuned to KELOLAND News, and KELOLAND.com for more updates.
