SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The city of Sioux Falls will soon break ground on the new Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
After more than a decade of planning, consultants and two different task forces, groundbreaking for a new Sioux Falls events center will finally happen on Thursday. The groundbreaking for the $115 million facility will be at 4:30 p.m.
Mayor Mike Huether unveiled his plan for the new events center nearly two years ago after he first took office. During the past two years, there have been numerous debates over the location and funding for the project. But after Sioux Falls voters gave their approval last November by a margin of 58 percent to 42 percent is when the planning really kicked into high gear.
The groundbreaking will be held right next to the Convention Center where work has already started to build the events center. There will be food, drinks and a live band as part of the festivities.
You can watch the groundbreaking live on the KELOLAND.com Live Coverage page at 4:30 p.m.
