Ted Kennedy Junior, the son of late Massachusetts senator Ted Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, toured the Sanford Center in Sioux Falls Saturday afternoon.
He met with cancer survivors and their families at an outdoor carnival. Kennedy is a bone cancer survivor himself. His bout with osteosarcoma at the age of 12 cost him his right leg, but it never dampened his spirit.
"Sometimes, people are surprised when I tell them that I'm glad for my experience with cancer. Even though I lost my leg and my hair and had trouble with that transition, it made me who I am today," Kennedy said.
Although he has no current political aspirations, Kennedy says he's supportive of the health care law known as Obamacare because it doesn't discriminate against pre-existing conditions like childhood cancer.
