Ken Huber Arrested For Murder

November 6, 2007, 9:52 PM by Matt Belanger

Ken Huber Arrested For Murder
Newly-filed court documents confirm Ken Huber has been arrested in Sioux Falls and charged with alternate counts of first degree murder and first degree manslaughter in connection with his wife's death. Pam Huber was shot in the head October 28 in Highmore and died Friday.

The paperwork outlines, in detail, Sunday night's events when Pam Huber was shot in the head, including a transcript of a 911 call.

There are contradictions between what Ken Huber tells investigators and interviews with the Huber children, who were in the house when the shooting happened.

The documents also explain that Ken Huber and Hyde County State's Attorney Jennifer Lowrie were having an affair. There's also indication that affair may not be the only relationship Ken Huber had while married to Pam Huber. Investigators found a briefcase in the Huber home containing emails from 2004 that hint at a relationship with another woman.

An Interview with Pam Huber's son also reveals Ken Huber was both physically and verbally abusive toward Pam. A lot of people have been wondering why its taken so long for details to be released. South Dakota's Attorney General says there's a reason for the delay.

"You only get one opportunity to do the investigation correctly and that opportunity usually presents itself the first time you are on the scene and we tried to do that," South Dakota Attorney General Larry Long said.

The documents also explain how Ken Huber has received more than 1,100 hours of training and has taken several gun-safety courses. Huber is also an ex-marine. And Long says he had checked himself into the VA hospital in Sioux Falls several days ago. And that's where he was arrested tonight.

Also in the court papers, the DCI says the type of handgun used to shoot Pam Huber has three safetys, and it's "almost impossible" that the gun was fired accidentally.
