With Christmas only days away, stores prepare for consumers to head through their doors.
"We've seen a lot of guest traffic come through the store and sales have been up this year," said Target manager Josh Janssen.
With rain, ice, and snow making its way into KELOLAND, for the second weekend in a row, local stores steer clear of any safety hazards that come with slick parking lots and walkways.
"We are always very strategic. We staff our team as we all know in South Dakota we need to adapt and adjust depending on the weather," said Janssen.
When the weather gets bad the managers don’t fret. Target said it affects sales initially but all-and-all they generally tend to make it up.
"They do make that up again in the week, those guests typically wanted to shop the time the storm hit, but they do come back again," said Target manager Josh Janssen.
The store said they don’t only see KELOLAND shoppers, but consumers from far and wide are shopping locally.
"As far as out of town traffic it has picked up quite a bit. It's just the reality of this time of year and it's fun to see everybody," Janssen said.
