Jurors watched a two-hour video of James McVay’s interview with Sioux Falls Police on the second day of the admitted killer’s death penalty trial.
The video was recorded in Madison, Wisconsin, the day after McVay killed 75-year-old Maybelle Schein in her Sioux Falls home.
Authorities arrested McVay in Wisconsin as he was making his way to Washington, D.C., where he planned to assassinate the president.
In the video, McVay said he killed Schein ‘to get blood on his hands,’ and he was planning to do it again when he arrived in Madison.
McVay told the Sioux Falls Police detective, ‘I hope you give me the death sentence - that will make it easier for me.’
Jurors are watching the video as they decide whether McVay should be executed or get life in prison.
