June Rain, So Far

For some of us, Monday's the fifth consecutive day with measurable rain. It's already taken its toll on south central and southeast KELOLAND where the heaviest rain has fallen.
Through Sunday morning, parts of south central central and southeast KELOLAND have received more than six inches of rain. The hardest hit areas are from Charles Mix and Douglas Counties, where they picked up more than seven to eight inches of rain. These are the numbers through Sunday morning, which may vary in your rain gauge, Carthage 7.53", Mitchell 6.62", Menno 5", Chamberlain 4.68". Some impressive amounts e-mailed to us include Parkston at 8.2", Herrick 7.0", Hitchcock 7.0", Bonilla 6.8", and De Smet at just more than 5".
Just last week, Mitchell was below precipitation for the year by three and a third inches. But getting more than two inches of rain for three days straight has brought them nearly three inches OVER for the year, with hopes of drier weather ahead
