A judge has ordered a South Dakota man accused in a child's death to have no contact with the child's mother and other relatives.
Twenty-five-year-old Jay Barse, of Watertown, appeared in court on Tuesday. Judge LeeAnn Pierce kept his bond at $50,000 but granted the request by Codington County State's Attorney Dawn Elshere that Barse have no contact with the immediate family of the child if he bonds out.
Barse is charged with second-degree murder in the death last week of 14-month-old Serenity Seaboy from head trauma. Authorities say Barse is the live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother.
He is due back in court April 2.
