Johnson Family Wants People To Remember RJ

Johnson Family Wants People To Remember RJ

Even though Eric Robert is being put to death, the wife of Correctional Officer Ron 'RJ' Johnson doesn't want her husband's death to be in vain.

When there is an execution, the focus is often on the inmate.  But Lynette Johnson wants people to be thinking about her husband who was killed during a failed prison escape.

She says it is important to remember RJ and all correctional officers.

"Lately, everything has been about the execution and the inmates that did this. What about the correctional officers that are still having to deal with this that miss Ron?" Lynette Johnson said.  "What about the first responders for Ron that had to take the saran wrap off his face to try and help him? What they're going through; all the correctional officers?"

In addition to Lynette Johnson, the couple's two children and their spouses also planned to witnesses the execution.
