Joan Jett is coming back to Sioux Falls. City leaders announced her appearance as part of the Rock and Roll Ramp Up concert to open the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Tickets on sale on Friday, August 29, at noon at the Arena box office or at Ticketmaster.com.
"The tickets are only $10 for this opportunity to see the new venue with these rock and roll legends," Chris Semrau, SMG Assistant Manager, said.
The September 24 concert is just one in a series of events to kick-off the PREMIER Center's grand opening.
"On September 19th at 4:30, we will officially cut the ribbon for our new events center," Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether said.
Before the official open house, people can get a first look at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center during a ceremony to light up the exterior on September 15.
"They will create a memory for you, for your family, and your friends. Sioux Falls, come see what you have built," Huether said.
While city leaders gear up for a look at what is inside, they are also looking at repairing the outside. This spring, KELOLAND News told you about metal siding on the building that is not laying flat. Public Works Director Mark Cotter, who declined an on-camera interview, said the City is looking at two possible solutions including testing new siding materials. He added the City will unveil mock-ups of what this could look like in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, city leaders have previously said issues with the exterior will not affect their grand plans for the inside.
"Come one, come all," Huether said.
