Jewel Cave Tours Halted For Elevator Maintenance

CUSTER, SD -
Tours at Jewel Cave National Monument in South Dakota are being halted for a week while elevator maintenance is done.
Officials say the tours will be closed Tuesday through Monday, Feb. 13. The Visitor Center at the park will remain open.
Two 28-story elevators carry staff and visitors into the cave. Superintendent Larry Johnson says maintenance work on the elevators is best done during the winter, when there are fewer visitors.
