JazzFest Festivities Keeps People Coming Back

July 28, 2012, 5:30 PM by Jenna Petrak

JazzFest Festivities Keeps People Coming Back

Rain may have cancelled the first act at JazzFest in Sioux Falls on Saturday, but people were still out at Yankton Trail Park enjoying the music and festivities.

It’s the positive energy that has kept Randy Kolden coming back to JazzFest year after year.

“The best part is seeing all of the people having a good time,” Kolden said.

Kolden has spent the last couple days at JazzFest and says he’s seen a large crowd. He credits that to the nice weather we’ve had the past couple of days.

Michelle and Greg Harmon have also been at JazzFest the last couple of days. And they’re glad they’ve come out to see every act.

“The highlight for me was J. J. Grey on Thursday night,” Michelle said.

The couple’s been coming to JazzFest for at least 15 years now, and they say they can’t get this sort of entertainment for free anywhere else.

“Each year it gets bigger and better and the entertainment is fabulous,” Michelle said. “Having a performer like Joe Walsh here for free is incredible.”

And as they come back year after year they are always surprised to see the diversity of the crowd.

“It’s amazing how many age groups this event brings in,” Greg said. “I think for everyone here JazzFest defines the summer.”

JazzFest ends Saturday with a concert by featured performer Joe Walsh at 10 p.m. followed by fireworks.
