SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Hundreds of people are expected to attend the funeral of former Governor Bill Janklow Wednesday morning.
The four-term governor died Thursday of cancer at the age of 72.
Former Senator Tom Daschle, Governor Dennis Daugaard and Janklow's son, Russ, are scheduled to speak during the 10:30 a.m. service at our Saviors Lutheran Church.
The church can hold up to 2,300 people, but parking may be limited. So, organizers have asked that people park at the Elmen Center and use the free shuttle service
More than 1,000 people filled the South Dakota Capitol Tuesday to remember former Janklow during a public viewing and memorial service. Some drove for hours and lined up before the capitol even opened.
Janklow's family has decided he will be buried during a private service in the Black Hills at a later date.
Governor Daugaard has asked that flags remain at half staff through Friday in Janklow's honor.
KELOLAND News will bring you Wednesday's funeral live on KELO TV and KELOLAND.com when the service begins. Then, tonight on KELOLAND News at Ten, we'll pay one last tribute to Bill Janklow who served South Dakota as governor for 16 years.
