Jamison: Good To Finally Get Public Input

SIOUX FALLS, SD - After the first few precincts were counted, the "no" votes were in the lead. The results stayed that way for a while, but eventually the tables turned.

City Council member Greg Jamison had spoken out against the plan. Tuesday night, he said it's good to finally know where the public stands on the issue following more than a year of discussion.  He says based on the final vote numbers, it's clear the people want an events center to be built now.

But he says he's still concerned about funding the operation of the building, construction costs and the debt service. He says that money is coming from the second-penny sales tax, which is also used to pay for road construction, new libraries and fire stations.

Jamison says there isn't unlimited money available to fund all of the projects and he wants to make sure all of the promises that were made during the campaign are kept.
