Jail talks continue in Minnehaha County.
A consultant shared inmate projections with county officials Monday afternoon.
The county is facing overcrowding as it considers closing an aging work release facility. The consultant also says there is a greater need for more secure housing in the county.
It's the latest step in the process of deciding to build a new facility or add on to the current jail.
“The next step is, I have to take all this information and develop projections and see where we're headed,” Jail Consultant Bill Garnos said. “And then, to what extent you can and should accommodate them.
Previous reports say a two story jail addition to the downtown jail would cost 10 million dollars.
