Iowa Woman Killed In Clay County Crash

June 12, 2012, 10:12 AM

Iowa Woman Killed In Clay County Crash
CLAY COUNTY, IA -

A northwest Iowa woman died in a crash Monday evening.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says Leola Vanravenswaay, 63, was traveling east on Highway 18 when she entered the intersection at Highway 71 into the path of another vehicle.  When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Vanravenswaay trapped and unresponsive.  Crews worked to get the Sanborn, Iowa, woman out of the vehicle and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The people in the other vehicle, Christopher Beyerhelm of Waukee, Iowa, and passenger Kent Allen of Altoona, Iowa, were hurt in the crash.  Beyerhelm had just cuts and bruises so he was released at the scene.  Allen was taken to the Spencer Hospital but was later released.
