SIOUX FALLS, SD -
A man is in the hospital Sunday night, and police have shut down a Sioux Falls intersection after a crash involving a bicycle at 10th Street and Fairfax Avenue.
Authorities say the victim, a man in his 30s from Sioux Falls, has life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary information shows the cyclist was crossing the street at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. That's when a vehicle was turning off 10th Street and hit the man on his bicycle.
The driver of the vehicle is from Sioux Falls. He was not hurt, and he hasn't been arrested.
The accident reconstruction team was on scene investigating. Authorities expect the intersection to be closed through midnight. Police diverted both eastbound and westbound traffic. Westbound traffic on Cliff was directed to French Avenue, and eastbound traffic on Cliff was sent to Nesmith Avenue. Police say the closure is in conjunction with the street repair underway on 10th Street and Cliff as well as the 10th Street viaduct.
