An inmate who fell on Saturday, September 21 at the Jameson Annex died from the injuries on Wednesday.
Inmate Michael Vaisa fell in the housing at the Jameson Annex just before 2 p.m. on Saturday. Vaisa was taken to a local hospital for treatment to head and neck injuries and placed on life support before passing away.
According to witnesses, it appears Vaisa fell from the second floor of the housing unit to the first floor because of a medical condition.
The Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the incident.
Vaisa, 45, was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and first-degree burglary out of New Mexico under an interstate compact agreement.
An autopsy will be conducted.
