Last year at this time the annual Ice Fish Fest at Catfish Bay in Sioux Falls was cancelled because the water wasn't completely frozen. But, what a difference a year makes
On Saturday, hundreds were on the bay. The ice was thick and the ice fishing conditions were perfect for this year’s festivities.
And while the fishermen out here had to brave the cold, they say it's was worth it for the big catch. So, they didn’t complaining about the extra layer or two of clothes they put on Saturday morning.
"We got a lot of smiles. I mean, in the first half hour, 45 minutes they brought in a whole bunch of walleye, big bass and just a lot of big fish and they were just having fun. We had a line of people out in the weigh in shack and they just all had smiles on, so it was great,” event organizer Jim Bruns said.
And Bruns say he was blown away with the event’s turnout. It definitely exceeded his expectations.
