I-90 Bridge In SD Closed When Semi Crashes Into It
February 3, 2012, 8:02 AM
MURDO, SD -
South Dakota's Transportation Department has closed an Interstate 90 bridge for repairs after a semitrailer crashed into it near the south central town of Murdo.
The crash happened Thursday morning. The semi driven by Gary Witzko, of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada, was hauling an empty 30,000-gallon oil tank when it collided with the bridge running over the interstate.
Witzko was not hurt. He was cited for violating his permit to drive an oversize load, a misdemeanor.
Officials did not immediately determine how long the bridge repairs will take.
