Huset's Speedway Set To Host Circuit Of Champions

Huset's Speedway Set To Host Circuit Of Champions

The University of Northwestern Ohio All-Star Circuit of Champions will make up a portion of the Outlaw field the next two Sundays at Huset's Speedway, making an already competitive field even more heated.

The top four drivers in the 410 Outlaw Sprints at Huset's Speedway, led by all-time wins leader Terry McCarl, are currently separated by only 16 points.  Over the next two weeks, the chase for the checkered flag will be even more intense as the All-Star Circuit of Champions invades Brandon.

"Our talent right now at Huset's is pretty tough.  We've got five or six guys that have won World of Outlaws shows and there's not much difference between a World of Outlaws show and the All-Stars.  They're pretty much the same cast of characters, and they'll be fun to watch.  They're tough," Huset's Speedway owner Steve Rubin said.

Every show is also an opportunity to make a much-needed buck.

"They're all hungry right now.  They do this for a living and there's been a lot of rainouts this year, so their pocketbooks are a little empty, so that's going to make them even hungrier," Rubin said.

The All-Star field will include Tim Shaffer, Dale Blaney, who played basketball for the Rapid City Thrillers in the 1980's before turning to racing, and the "Wild Child" Jac Haudenschild.

"Anytime you put him on the race track, it's going to be exciting, because he likes to ride the rim and he likes to go fast.  Hopefully, we're going to have his son coming with him, so that'll be a father/son coming to the race this weekend, and that should be a lot of fun," Rubin said.

The all-star field may expand even more as the countdown to the Knoxville Nationals continues.

"As we get closer and closer to the Knoxville Nationals, teams come from California, and pretty much start centering around the midwest.  So, we don't know who we're going to pick up, so that's what makes it exciting," Rubin said.

Over the next two Sunday at Huset's Speedway, gates open at 5:00, with racing at 7:00.  Adults are $25, kids eight-14 are $5, while seven-and-younger are free.
