Huron Women Raising Money For Rachel Cyriacks Family

Huron Women Raising Money For Rachel Cyriacks Family
Rachel Cyriacks

HURON, SD -

It's been four months since anyone last saw Rachel Cyriacks from Woonsocket. Now, a Huron woman is trying to help the family of her missing friend.

Rachel Cyriacks has played a big role in the life of Jennifer Hiles, including babysitting Hiles' children.  Hiles was devastated when she learned her close friend was missing.

"It's just really scary to have somebody you know missing and not know where they're at or anything. I just hope she comes back soon because her kids and family really need her," Hiles said.

Hiles has now set up a Go Fund Me website called "Tangled HOPE" to help the missing woman's family. She is asking for donations to buy prayer lanterns.  She got the idea from the Disney film Tangled. It's a story Cyriacks always watched with Hiles' children.

"In the movie Tangled, there was a Princess that was missing and every year they light off these lanterns in hopes someday she would just return or come back," Hiles said.

Hiles plans to sell the lanterns for five dollars a piece with all the money going towards the Cyriacks family. She also plans to launch the lanterns, as in the movie. Hiles hopes people seeing the beacons of hope floating through the air will be inspired to do their part to find Cyriacks.

"If people see thousands of lanterns flying off in the sky, they're going to wonder what they're for and it'll just get people talking and hopefully looking on their property or just anywhere, she could just be anywhere," Hiles said.

Hiles hopes her hard work and the added awareness can help bring Cyriacks home.

"I just hope it brings her back soon. I feel like it will. I hope," Hiles said.

Hope that is playing a big role in Hiles efforts to find her friend.

Hiles says that Cyriacks is a happy, kind, person that always brought her presents.
