A Huron man is accused of a several crimes in Mitchell and two of his brothers are charged with helping him.
Mitchell police arrested 22-year-old Jeremiah Hart Monday. He's accused of intentionally setting fire to a stolen vehicle. Officials were called to a grass fire early Sunday morning and found the vehicle burning in a wooded area of the 900 block of West 2nd Avenue. He's charged with reckless burning and intentional damage to property.
The 1989 Chevy Celebrity, which was stolen out of Huron, is destroyed.
Jeremiah Hart's brother, 20-year-old Matthew Hart of Mitchell, faces aiding and abetting charges of reckless burning and intentional damage to property.
Police have also charged Jeremiah Hart with first degree robbery for an incident that happened in August. They say a woman was walking to her car outside of the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell on August 17 when she was assaulted and her purse was stolen.
Police say Jeremiah Hart's older brother, 28-year-old Charles Hart of Mitchell, gave Jeremiah a ride to the area near the hospital before the incident, picked him up at a different location afterwards and collected the money stolen from the woman. He's charged with aiding and abetting the robbery.
The Division of Criminal Investigation, police from both Mitchell and Huron as well as sheriff's officials in Davison and Codington Counties were all involved in the investigations.
