A big piece of the Huron Post Office is about to become history. The Dakota Central mail sorting facility is scheduled to shut down sometime in 2015.
According to the United States Post Office, the final date has not been set. After the Huron facility closes, workload from Dakota Central will be absorbed by the Sioux Falls mail sorting facility. The move was first announced two years ago, but became official this week.
USPS is closing more than 80 sorting facilities across the country. Officials hope the changes will save them billions of dollars.
