Hunters Get Friendly Welcome At SF Airport

Hunters Get Friendly Welcome At SF Airport
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The thousands of hunters coming in from all over the country will be welcomed Friday by a big event at the airport set up by the Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau.

This is the second year the event has been expanded to two days.  Hunters get to pick up supplies for their hunting trip right as they get off the plane, even before they hit baggage claim.

Teri Schmidt of the Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau says this year, like other years, will bring a great economic boost to the city and state. This not only helps hunting-related businesses but it is also a boost to restaurants, shops and other recreational areas around town.

Schmidt says this year should be a great year for pheasant hunting with numbers on the rise from years past. Hunters can thank the mild winter and ideal weather during the nesting and brood-rearing season for the increase in birds.

Vendors will be at the airport today until 7 p.m. Pheasant season runs from October 20 until January 6, 2013.
