Huether: Time To Move Forward On Events Center
May 16, 2011, 6:18 PM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Mayor Mike Huether updated the city council on the progress of the proposed Events Center.
Huether says it is time to move forward and keep putting more pieces of the complicated puzzle in place. That includes talking about the details of paying for the building and its operations. The mayor says that information will come together in the new few weeks.
"Not everyone is going to agree with every aspect of this project. My goal is to find that middle ground, to compromise, so that we can move this city forward on a project we've been talking about for well over 12 to 13 years. It is long overdue for Sioux Falls. It is long overdue for South Dakota. It is long overdue for this region," Huether said.
Huether says experts are currently creating design plans for the building and looking at the existing infrastructure near the Arena. He says that will start to reveal a more exact cost for the project.
