A southwest South Dakota woman and retired lieutenant colonel has been appointed to the state's Veterans Commission.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard has chosen Lori Vosika to replace commissioner Gene Murphy.
The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs says Vosika has been an outstanding advocate for the state's veterans and their families.
Vosika in December retired from the Air Force and Reserves after a 22-year career. The Hot Springs woman has worked at the Veterans Affairs Black Hills Health Care System since 1996.
Vosika's term in the commission will expire in 2019.
