The annual horse races in Fort Pierre at the Stanley County Fairgrounds have begun.
The races started Saturday and will continue for the next two weekends.
Dennis Booth is the track's manager. Booth says the betting handle last year was between $30,000 and $40,000.
He says crowds last year were strong and the good weather made a difference. He says the quality of the horses this year is expected to be strong.
No races are scheduled for Easter Sunday.
