Hometown Teacher: Connors Joy To Be Around

September 12, 2012, 6:00 PM by Peggy Moyer

Hometown Teacher: Connors Joy To Be Around
ELLSWORTH, MN -

Family and friends are mourning the death and remembering the life of Amanda Connors.

She was a 2007 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

A long time teacher and coach remembers Amanda as a girl with a bright future and a joy to be around.

Connors attended school in Ellsworth, Minnesota, beginning in the second grade. Ken Kvaale remembers Amanda well because he taught her in the classroom for five years and was her coach too.

"Amanda was just like she was in athletics. She was just a spark plug in the classroom too. There with the answers and an "A" student for me," Kvaale said.

In addition to being her coach and teacher, Kvaale was like a father figure to Amanda. She and Kvaale's daughter, Rachel, were best friends all through school and in the five years since graduation too.

Kvaale says Amanda will be remembered as a fun-loving and hardworking young lady who was a joy to have in the classroom.

"Just wonderful in the classroom. I always remember very respectful and I like to use humor in the classroom and Amanda was always there to get what she could out of me," Kvaale said.

Kvaale says his daughter Rachel considered Amanda Connors to be the sister she never had.
