Highway 83 Open Again Near White River

WHITE RIVER, SD -
The White River bridge is now open on Highway 83.
The Mellette County Sheriff's Office says it was closed overnight when water from the Big White River north of the town of White River overflowed on the bridge. Chunks of melting ice flowing to the bridge caused the flooding.
Although the bridge is open, officials are urging commuters to drive with caution because the water is still elevated.
