High-Risk Sex Offender Arrested In Rapid City

A high-risk sex offender wanted in Sioux Falls for failure to register is back in custody.  Ed Morris has been arrested in Rapid City.

Sioux Falls police issued a warrant for his arrest last week.  The convicted sex offender listed the Sioux Falls Inn as his residence on May 1, but when officials went to check on him, the front desk clerk didn't have a record of him checking in.

Sioux Falls police contacted the Rapid City Police Department Tuesday afternoon after receiving a tip that Morris was on a bus and headed for Rapid City.  Police were there to arrest Morris when he got off the bus at 5:30 p.m. and took him to the Pennington County Jail.

He's now waiting to be extradited back to Sioux Falls to face charges.

Morris was released from prison in February after serving out a sentence for rape in Spink County and because of a high-risk of re-offending, officials have been keeping a close watch on him ever since.
